Update: I'm told defenseman Shaone Morrisonn (bruised right foot) skated this morning. I'm guessing he might also hear from the league this morning. Ruutu, meantime, got a five minute major for kneeing, a five minute major for fighting and a game misconduct. His 38 goals are the second most in the league, one behind Alex Ovechkin. But they're in big trouble if he's out for more than a game or two. The Thrashers don't know how much time Kovalchuk will miss, if any. The Thrashers' best player, Ilya Kovalchuk, suffered a right knee injury in the second period when he was hit knee-on-knee by Pittsburgh agitator Jarkko Ruutu. But that wasn't the important news coming out of Atlanta. The Thrashers beat the Pens 4-1 last night to move past the Caps in the Southeast Division standings.
